Dear Jen,
Last year I participated in the Anti-Valentine's Day Barfly Bus with several new friends I had just met after moving to Portland from Michigan. I have two reasons for writing you this note. The first is to compliment you kids on a job well done for the bus tour. My pals and I had a blast and all in all it was a job well done. I, for one, sincerely appreciate your efforts, organization, and humour last Valentine's Day.
My second reason for contacting you is to thank you, indirectly, for aiding me in meeting my fiancee. My Boy Wonder was introduced to me last February 14th, through a mutual friend, and we really got to know each other on your bus tour. Sure enough, we hit it off and our first conversation was spent gabbing about how anti-commitment we both were among our follow anti-Valentine's Day chums. Long story short, Boy Wonder (Jaime) and I started dating, things progressed very seriously, and last Thanksgiving holiday he took me to California to meet his family, and he asked me to marry him. Obviously, I answered 'absolutely' as who could turn down someone they met on a Barfly bus tour?!
Truthfully, we've been having a deliciously humourous time replaying our first meeting to families and friends and we adore our story because the irony is staggering. I've never been able to love someone so deeply in order to commit myself to them and had it not been for your efforts, I honestly don't think I would have been able to form such a classic relationship with my Boy. I'm sure we would have met, eventually, but you kids at Barfly are really the ones who got the gears moving or bus rolling or whatever.
Thank you, so much, again,
Sara A.
